How you should be sending every email in your business
We all send out 100’s of emails from our business every
week if not every day. Each one of these emails is a touch point with
your market be it direct or indirect.&...
If you had an ingrown toenail would you treat it yourself or go see your doctor? At first we would try to do something ourselves and upon realizing that the pain in our toe is not going away we then go see the doctor.
I never ceased to be amazed how often in business so many of us persist with that painful toe, long after we know that no matter what we do it’s just not getting any better.
My name is Greg Tomkins and apart from being the Director of Top Left Designs, I also carry the intriguing title of Web Architect.
Being responsible business owners we all have to ensure we are marketing ourselves and making sure that we convey the appropriate message to our markets about our products and services. Essential to that is of course having a website that carries the right set of branding, appropriately positioning your products and services in the market and most importantly delivers to your business objectives.
It is not about turning your colour brochure into a web site. It is not about creating a great logo and slogan. Your website should form an integral part of your business systems bringing together marketing and business processes delivering to your business objectives.
Whilst there are a number of things you can do by way of creating your own website, at the end of the day the quality of the overall solution and the real cost of building and maintaining your site will be a far cry from what you can have with a fully integrated web solution for your business that addresses marketing, branding, e-Commerce and customer relationship management.
We have 35 years’ experience in the IT industry working with all sorts of clients defining the best solutions for business. Our business model enable us to provide professionally managed and designed web solutions at competitive pricing so if you would like to just talk to us about what we may be able to do for you then please contact me.
We let you get on with what you do best avoiding the distractions in business while we do what we do best — building online business solutions.
In building back links you need to determine where you can get them from. A number of tools exist with many being free to help you find back link sources.
The most obvious and easiest to use is SITE EXPLORER on Yahoo. This will show you all pages that I link back to any page or website.
What we really want to do at the end of the day is to beat our competition. Well, here is a secret that is poorly utilized by most novices. Check out the links your top competitors have to their website.
SITE EXPLORER helps but you really want something that provides you better qualified data. A tool I find of immense value MajesticSEO which allows you to analyse in depth the backlinks from other websites to each and every page within your own site.
With this you not only see the actual pages linking back but you also see the PR of that page the type of link and the anchor text used on the link. If you run this against a competitor who has optimized their site you should be able to build a picture of the keywords they are planning optimizing on. This tool even tells you the top 10 anchor text phrases found and how many times each was used.
You should now sit down and draft a list of 3 or 4 key phrases that you wish to use that are made up of your keywords to be used as anchor text in any back links you request.
After that write a sentence that describes the thing your page is about that you wish people to be directed to. When you request a back link from another site you should supply them with not only your URL but the anchor text to be used and the description to be placed with the link.
From here it is hard manual effort on your part. If you would like to understand how you can improve the marketability and level of optimization with your own website, contact us at Top Left Designs and we can outline a strategy that will work best for you.
