How you should be sending every email in your business
We all send out 100’s of emails from our business every
week if not every day. Each one of these emails is a touch point with
your market be it direct or indirect.&...
The ever asked questions of what will that website cost me or how much is an SEM campaign going to cost still come to us regularly. Our events are remains of "it depends on what you want us to do for you". There are however some real tracts of the unwary.
I recently came across a website offering a range of package deals with the usual entry point offering limited services for a low entry fee through to the premium package that bundled everything imaginable. As you might have guessed, the package savings were mined by – saving $97,007 on a value of $103,587 in the first year with annual ongoing costs amounting to $11,520.
Our advice is to check any offers closely and be sure you are paying what you need and that the real value of the offer is evident. Don't be lulled into believing this very common tactic of buying at ridiculous discounts. On a personal note, I feel for any poor sap who has ever paid the full listed price in the beginning listed in these great offers.
Bundling up packages such as this and then pricing them at ridiculous discounts is misleading and probably misrepresenting the real value but that is a matter probably best left to the ACCC to decide.
Our advice is when you are looking for Web development or SEO services, asked a detailed quote that explains clearly what you are getting. Get at least two or three other quotes and do a bit of secret shopping. Many Web development agencies offer package solutions with pricing listed. Just look for the fine print and be mindful of what these packages don't include.
Providing fixed prices for packages is possible and very reasonable however they will usually be based on a number of patients by the developer. There is nothing wrong with this so long as the client understands what they are really getting. Only once you understand the VALUE of the real offer then you can compare it to other offers you have sought.
Fully customised solutions, particularly those with specific requirements for online shops will cost you more. If you require assistance with your branding, designs and content than the costs will also be greater than usual. If you want your site to be based on a responsive designed for use on mobile devices then you should expect the costs (if custom-designed) to be approximately 30% to 40% higher depending on what your site contains and the layout of that content.
Additional marketing services such as inbound marketing, social media and SCO are always going to be extra. If you Web developer says they are included, find out the value attributed to each and what they are really offer in.
Everyone in business deserves to make a profit. This does not mean that prices of goods should be over-inflated to make bundled offers appear ridiculously discounted. They should not prey on the naivety of the market. Just remember, if the offer sounds too good to be true, then it isn't.
